Well, I am a movie maker at heart..but I am also lazy. I have made about 7 films(none which acutally has a solid script besides a school one((may I add that I was very limited on horror with that one)).
I just have one problem. I need to know how to score locations without really having to go through a big process of talking to people.
If anyone has any ideas/suggestions/tips...please reply.

Considering I am having problems of my own with finding locations, I can't be of much help here, but...
I've been using myspace to network with horror fans in the area where I want to shoot the film. Now I have them looking for places and talking to people for me. When it comes down to actually picking the final location, I will have to get off of my butt go talk to people and look at the places myself, but having a few people on my side helps to narrow down the list before my hunt truly begins.

I'm working on a book proposal now for a "how to" on making no budget/low budget horror films. Besides SLKIME CITY, I wrote and directed UNDYING LOVE (NEW YORK VAMPIRE) and NAKED FEAR (which is on the SLIME CITY DVD); I also worked as Production Manager on I WAS A TEENAGE ZOMBIE and as Assistant Director on PLUTOMIUM BABY (Ugh!), Frank Henenlotters's BRAIN DAMAGE, and a crime drama called WEST NEW YORK. If a publisher gives me the go ahead, I'll discuss my own experiences and interview a bunch of other filmmakers. Greg www.slimeguy.com

Jenni
Yes I am Mr. LONGFELLOW!! As yoou were saying it's just a matter of talking to people for locations, usually you just can't show up and start shooting without clearing it with someone, however my partner Tim and I have done this lots of times. Alot of times yoou can just ask someone "Hey can I shoot here?" Sometimes you get the old "Do you guys have insurance?" but other times you get people just wanting to help or be involved, for instance on "LOST FAITH" I got I disagreeistant director to talk his Dad into useing his home and land, Tim and I got a lady interested in letting us shoot "WICKED GAMES" on her property. In "CREEP" we got downtown WEST PALM BEACH offices that were really cool just because the guy wanted to be in the movie he said "you can use my office building if you put me in the movie." In "ROT", Marcus Koch, Billly Scam and Tiffany Stanke went to a street corner and shot scenes for "ROT" where Tiff's head was ran over, we got busted by the cops but I talked our way out of the whole think. TRUTH OR DARE we did everything by the book, permits, insurance the whole nine yards but we had alot of money on that and couldn't afford to have it shut down...part two later gota go
Joel D. Wynkoop MR. LONGFELLOW among others.
